The village of Vale is devastated when a boulder rolls down Mt. Aleph, a trap to stop the sealed power of alchemy from being discovered. Years later, a Psynergy adept named Isaac intercepts two shadowy figures trying to break the seal and steal the elemental stars once again.
Now Isaac and his friends must stop the elemental stars from being used to light the Lighthouses across Weyard, freeing alchemy once more.
Isaac travels the overworld, using Psynergy to solve puzzles and fighting enemies with his team. During battles, you can call on elemental Djinn to cast spells or summon huge beasts to take out enemies and bosses.

Outside of Colosso is a fountain filled with turtles and crabs. If you throw coins at them, they change color. This appears to be referencing the arcade Mario Bros., where turtles and crabs would change colour when hit.
