After Samus Aran stopped the Space Pirates in Metroid, she discovers an abandoned Space Pirate research facility above the planet Tallon IV. Inside she finds horribly mutated beasts, and files of information on Phazon, a mutagen found on the planet. She escapes and lands on the planet to investigate the Space Pirate's experiments.

Explore Tallon IV, searching for weapons and power-ups that will allow you to access new areas. Your arm cannon can be used to take out enemies, and can be upgraded to damage tougher opponents. You can use Samus's visor to scan for weak points or information.
