System NES

Genre Action
Series Balloon Fight Series

Take to the skies and defeat the enemy Balloon Fighters before they burst your balloons and send you crashing into the water.

As well as attacking the enemies, avoid the deadly fish that emerges when you get too close to the water, and beware of the Lightning and Propellers in the later stages.

In the Balloon Trip mode, you have to guide your Balloon Fighter over an endless ocean, dodging the sparks and collecting bubbles and balloons. The longer you survive the obstacles, the higher your score and Balloon Trip rank.

Player 2

Player 2

The character controlled by Player 2 in the 2 Player Game has opposite red and blue coloring. Player 1 and Player 2 can bump each other to burst their balloons.

Enemies & Obstacles

Enemy

Enemy

Rival balloon fighters. When you pop their balloons they parachute to solid ground and inflate a new balloon. Hit them a second time, or they will change colour and come back faster than before.

Fish

Fish

A giant, ugly fish that lives in the water. If the player or an enemy floats too close to the water it will try to snatch them up in its mouth.

Lightning

Lightning

In the 1 and 2 Player Games, spending too long on one screen will cause the clouds to shoot Lightning. It floats around, bouncing off the sides. If the player touches the Lightning, he will be instantly defeated. In Balloon Trip, hundreds of Lightning sparks stand between you and a high rank.

Propeller

Propeller

A spinning obstacle found in the later stages. If a player or enemy hits it, it starts spinning wildly, sending anyone who touches it flying off in unpredictable directions.

Items

Giant Bubble

Giant Bubble

A bubble that rises from the water after an enemy is defeated. Grab it before it floats away for bonus points. In Balloon Trip, the Giant Bubble will freeze the movement of the stage and Lightning temporarily, letting you catch your breath.

Balloon

Balloon

During the Bonus Stage, balloons rise up from the pipes in the ground. Pop as many as you can before they float off the top of the screen. Collect them all for a bonus. In Balloon Trip mode, pop as many balloons as you can for bonus points.
