Nintendo's aerial training simulator series has played the role of showing off what Nintendo's home consoles can do technically.
The first Pilotwings experimented with various Mode 7 scaling techniques for each of the flight craft, while Pilotwings 64 strived to show that the N64's graphics and sound were able to create an ambient and relaxing atmosphere to accompany the missions.
