Before you play each track (except the first) you are greeted by a Nintendo character and the words "Challenge! Course".
The Nintendo characters that appear are:
Course 2: Toad (Super Mario series)
Course 3: Luigi (Super Mario series)
Course 4: Princess Peach (Super Mario series)
Course 5: Link (The Legend of Zelda series)
Course 6: Mario (Super Mario series)
Course 7: Samus Aran (Metroid series)
Course 8: Pit (Kid Icarus series)
Course 9: Donkey Kong (Donkey Kong series)
You also see all of the characters again during the ending sequence. At the end of the ending sequence you will also be cheered on by Bowser from the Super Mario series.
