Welcome to NinDB
For information on first party Nintendo games
Latest update: 28th April 2025

After having a whale of a time exploring Nintendo's very first arcade game Computer Othello, I've poured my time into reviving the Nintendo Arcade section. And this isn't just the old arcade page with a lick of paint. I've reviewed the lists and added some deep dives into some of Nintendo's earliest electro-mechanical and microprocessor based arcade games:
- Laser Clay (1973–1974)
- Simulation System (1974–1978)
- EVR System (1975–1976)
- Smashmatic (1975)
- Prize Machines (1978)
- Block Fever (1978)
- Space Fever & Color Space Fever (1979)
Hopefully this will give you an idea of where I'm taking the website now.
I worked out that 1978 is as far from 2001 (when I founded NinDB) as 2001 is to today. There is now twice as much Nintendo gaming history as there was when I started.
But I don't need to play catch-up. I used to get so hung up on maintaining an accurate index that I forgot why I set NinDB up in the first place: to find interesting old things to show you.

Classic NinDB Features
Kazumi Totaka's Song Guide
For many years, a strange song appeared in games as diverse as Mario Paint, Yoshi's Story and Animal Crossing. NinDB discovered the connecting thread: Nintendo music composer (and voice of Yoshi) Kazumi Totaka. Discover all the games he has hidden this song in over the years.
Nintendo Hardware and Accessories
Over the years, NinDB has collected information on official Nintendo hardware releases from around the world. Want to know more about the Famicom? Don't know your Nintendo 3DS from your New Nintendo 3DS?
Nintober Archive
An ongoing illustration project to create profiles for Nintendo's most gruesome and evil characters. Nintober started in 2008 and is still going (as of 2023), with over 160 grotesque and villainous beasts from everyone's favourite family-friendly publisher.
Nintendo All-Stars Archive
Between 2004 and 2007, NinDB ran a series of illustrated character profiles, telling the stories of obscure or lesser-known Nintendo characters. Some of these got a little long, and all are outdated now. But they have been restored along with the original artwork. We've even dug up some long-lost artwork that was planned but never used!
3rd Party Showcase Archive
Between 2006 and 2008, NinDB posted a series of articles written by John "Nester" Bennett, highlighting the very best third party games available on the Wii, DS and Virtual Console. All 50 articles have now been restored and archived for your pleasure. How many did you play?
