Barker Bill's Trick Shooting (NES) Guide Window Pains
How to Play
Objects will fall from the top of the screen to the bottom. Shoot the objects as they pass by the open windows.
- Different types of object fall at different speeds.
- You cannot shoot objects that are behind glass.
- You start with three shots. Your shots are replenished each time a new object appears.
- If an object drops off the bottom of the screen, you lose a life.
- You start the game with 10 lives.
- If you shoot a falling Diamond, you gain an extra life.
Scoring
The row you shoot the object on determines its score:
- The top row is worth 100 points
- The second row is worth 200 points
- The third row is worth 300 points
- The fourth row is worth 400 points
- The bottom row is worth 500 points
If you hit every item in the round, you receive a bonus 5000 points.

Progression
The difficulty increases every 8 rounds:
- The number of simultaneous falling targets increases from 1 to 2 to 3.
- The total number of falling targets increases from 30 to 40 to 50.
| Rounds | Falling Targets | Total Targets |
|---|---|---|
| Rounds 1-8 | 1 | 30 |
| Rounds 9-16 | 2 | 40 |
| Rounds 17-24 | 3 | 50 |
After Round 24, the game continues at the same difficulty as Rounds 17 to 24.
The rounds stop increasing at Round 99. You can continue playing, but the round number does not go up.
Techniques
- Learn the silhouettes of the objects and what speed they drop.
- On the first 8 rounds, practice hitting each item on the lowest row.
- From Round 9, beware of two objects falling on top of each other. You might not be able to see smaller objects behind bigger ones.
- Prioritise shooting objects that drop faster. You can save hats until last.
- From Round 17, you should focus on shooting objects whenever you get the opportunity. These rounds can get very frantic.
- If you successfully shoot an object after more than half of it has passed into the next row, you can earn the next row's points – even if the object is going behind a window!
