3rd Party Showcase (3PS) Archive

One major criticism of Nintendo in the early 2000s was their lack of third party support. Yet it seemed as though Nintendo fans would avoid buying any games until the next Mario, Zelda or Pokémon title landed.

While NinDB only covers first party games, between 2006 and 2008 we ran a series of articles highlighting excellent third party games that were available on the Nintendo DS, Wii and Virtual Console. These articles were written by long-time contributor and friend of the site, John "Nester" Bennett, under the name 3rd Party Showcase.

Thanks to the Wii and DS enjoying strong third party support, the conversation eventually moved on and 3rd Party Showcase ended with over 50 articles. They were taken down during the site's 2008 redesign and never reinstated. Until now!

So let's put on our nostalgia goggles and take a look back at the best third party games on offer.
