Arcade Game Guide
Popeye and Brutus are fighting for the heart of Olive Oyl. As Popeye, you must collect the items that Olive throws from the top of the screen. If any items hit the bottom then you have to grab them quickly. If you don't pick them up quickly enough, you lose a life.
Brutus runs around each level trying to clobber Popeye or throwing beer bottles at him from afar. You will also need to look out for Bernard the vulture and the skull-throwing Sea Hag on later levels.
Grab a can of spinach to become temporarily invincible, allowing you to knock Brutus into the water for bonus points.

Popeye
ポパイ
The good-hearted sailor man who loves Olive Oyl. When he eats a can of spinach, he becomes super strong.
Olive Oyl
オリーブ・オイル
Popeye's sweetheart. In each level she drops things for Popeye to catch. In Level 1 it's love hearts and in Level 2 it's musical notes. In Level 3 she is captured and trapped in the crow's nest of a ship, and Popeye must catch the letters H, E, L and P to rescue her.
Brutus
ブルータス
Popeye's rival is even bigger and stronger, and he fights meaner too. He pursues Popeye around each level, throwing beer bottles.
Wimpy
ウィンピー
Popeye's hamburger-loving friend. He stays out of trouble and looks after the springboard on the second level.
Swee'Pea
スウィーピー
Popeye's adopted baby son. If Popeye uses the springboard, he leaps up to the floating platform where Swee'Pea sits.
Bernard
バーナード
The Sea Hag's pet vulture. He kidnaps Olive Oyl in Level 3, and swoops across the ship deck to try and knock Popeye into the water.
Sea Hag
シーハッグ
A villainous old crone who flings bouncing skulls at Popeye on the higher difficulty levels.
Items
Beer Barrel & Punching Bag
桶とパンチングボール
In Level 1, use good timing to punch the punching bag so it hits the beer barrel and lands on Brutus's head.
Heart
ハート
In Level 1, Olive Oyl drops these hearts from the top of the screen. Popeye must grab them as they fall. If they land in the water for too long, you will lose a life.
HELP Letters
「H」「E」「L」「P」のアルファベット
In Level 3, Olive Oyl drops these letters for Popeye to catch. Each one will extend the ladder leading up to the crow's nest.
Note
音符
In Level 2, Olive Oyl plays a song on her harp, and Popeye must grab all the notes before they hit the bottom of the screen.
Spinach
ほうれん草
When Popeye eats this canned vegetable, he temporarily becomes super fast and strong. All falling objects stop moving and he can knock out any enemy with ease. However, Brutus will try and avoid you until the effect wears off.
