A jetski circuit racing game. Choose your rider and race laps around the watery courses. Passing buoys and performing stunts will activate your Turbo, while missing buoys will take it away. Miss five buoys and you are disqualified.
Each character also now has a coach who will provide you with tips and stats as you race.
Aim for the best lap and course times in Time Attack, go for high scores by performing stunts and passing through rings in Stunt Mode, explore stages in Free Roam, or take part in up to 4-player multiplayer races.

There are eight characters in this game. Three return from Wave Race 64, one is all new, and the remaining four first appeared in 1080° Snowboarding: Akari Hayami, Nigel Carver, Rob Haywood, and Ricky Winterborn.
The working title for the GameCube hardware was "Dolphin". Many N64 and GameCube titles made reference to the Dolphin name.
Wave Race: Blue Storm features a secret Dolphin Mode. On the Options screen, press START, Z and X together to unlock the Password option. Enter DLPHNMOD and enter Free Roam mode. In Dolphin Mode you ride a dolphin instead of a jetski, and the level features a remix of Wave Race 64's title theme.
It's not clear if this is intended as a reference to the Dolphin name, or simply an up-to-date version of Wave Race 64's secret Dolphin Mode.
