Shin Onigashima Guide Chapter 5

In this chapter, you can move around the capital city and find the three heavenly waters in any order. If you want to explore before diving in, here is a map of the area.

The First Heavenly Water

Following Hinoe's instructions, Donbe and Ringo arrive at the capital city to search for the heavenly water. The city is completely deserted and many of the houses have been destroyed by the Oni.

Donbe and Ringo arrive at a house that hasn't been destroyed.

Inside the house they find a rope. Donbe takes it.

They arrive at a ruin in the South East of the capital.

Some Oni appear. Donbe and Ringo stay out of sight.

The Oni appear to be looking for something. After a while, they give up and leave.

Donbe checks the area and Ringo feel a cold patch of ground. Donbe discovers a hatch and opens it.

Donbe ties the rope so he can climb down safely.

The Oni are searching for something in the ruins.

This must have been an ice storage house. The room is filled with ice blocks.

Donbe leaves the hatch and then climbs back down. Because he left the hatch open, the ice has melted.

Donbe touches the water from the melted ice to his bracelet. Hinoe appears before him as a twinkling star, but explains this is only a temporary form.

All of reality is made up of two worlds. One is a world of darkness that has been corrupted by the dragon. If care is not taken then the dragon can escape into this world as well. He takes pleasure in stealing souls and uses them to weave himself a body. The souls are bound to the Dragon's Orb. If the souls can be released, the dragon's body will cease to exist.

Hinoe vanishes.

The rope falls inside the hatch.

Donbe finds ice underground.

The Second Heavenly Water

Donbe and Ringo stand in front of the gate to a large mansion.

In the courtyard, there is a well.

Donbe pulls some water from the well using the bucket and puts it on his bracelet. Hinoe appears before him once more.

Donbe asks why he was chosen, but Hinoe reveals this was always his destiny alone. He had failed to do the duty that even a dog and monkey could, failed to protect that which Hikari asked of him. As a result, he and Hikari were reincarnated to put right this wrong.

Hinoe disappears, leaving Donbe and Ringo stood at the well.

Donbe speaks with Hinoe-sama.

The Third Heavenly Water

A ghost appears above the well, counts to nine, then scares Donbe out of the courtyard.

Donbe and Ringo arrive at an earthen wall, where they find their old friend Kintaro̅.

  • (Talk) → (Kintaro)

He tells them (in broken English) that he found 'Miss Hikari' in the treasury of the palace. He also tells you there's something underground that you need to find.

After meeting Kintaro̅, Donbe and Ringo return to the well. Ringo now thinks there's something suspicious about it, but Donbe is too scared of the ghost. Ringo offers to deal with it next time.

As the ghost appears, Ringo barks: "WAN!" The ghost begins counting from two and finally makes it to ten. With that, the ghost is at peace and disappears.

The well is too dark, so Donbe climbs back out and then lowers Ringo down in the bucket. He climbs down the rope after him.

Ringo sniffs something out and picks it up in her mouth. They climb out of the well and Ringo hands Donbe a perfumed sachet.

Donbe and Ringo confront the counting ghost.

Donbe arrives outside the Imperial Palace. An Oni stands guard at the gate.

Donbe throws the perfumed sachet at the Oni. The smell is so strong that the Oni collapses.

Donbe steals the Oni's clothes. Now he can disguise himself as an Oni.

Donbe knocks out the Oni with the perfumed sachet.

Donbe enters the Buddhist temple and stands before the golden statue of Buddha.

Donbe disguises himself as an Oni and speaks to the Buddha statue. It speaks back, asking how much more evil he will commit. Tears come from its eyes.

Donbe touches the Buddha's tears to the bracelet. Hinoe appears.

Hinoe congratulates Donbe on finding all the heavenly water. This was a test for Donbe to prove he could help Hikari seal the dragon. Hinoe reveals that the bracelet is Donbe's life force, and without it he would still be eight years old. She urges Donbe to rescue Hikari quickly and hurry to Shiraishi Spring.

Donbe dresses as an Oni and makes the Buddha statue cry.

The Rescue of Hikari

  • (Move) → (Outside Temple)

Outside the temple, Donbe speaks to a fortune teller who looks like Ittai. Because Donbe found all three sources of heavenly water, the fortune teller gives Donbe a katana.

Donbe and Ringo speak to the fortune teller.

Donbe returns to the Imperial Palace and puts on his Oni disguise.

The room is swarming with Oni. If Donbe makes any false moves, he will be discovered.

The palace is swarming with Oni.

Donbe find a cellar filled with bronze bells containing souls stolen by the Oni.

  • (Use) → (Metal rod)

Donbe steps forward to smash the bells, but he is interrupted by an Oni guard.

  • Press A until your menu appears, then wait without pushing any buttons until the Oni leaves.
  • (Use) → (Metal rod)

Donbe remains hidden until the Oni leaves. He then steps out and smashes the bells.

  • (Move) → (Outside Cellar)
Donbe hides from an Oni in the Bronze Bell room.

The Oni have rushed to the cellar, leaving the door to the treasury unguarded. Don't waste any time.

Donbe finds Hikari unconscious on a mat. He wakes her and she reveals that Hinoe appeared to her as well. She is the reincarnation of Otohime, Princess of the Dragon Palace. Together, they must seal the dragon.

Reunited, Donbe, Hikari and Ringo flee the capital city.
