Shin Onigashima Guide Chapter 6

On their journey to Shiraishi Spring, Donbe, Hikari and Ringo arrive at a mysterious forest.

• いどう (Move) → にし (West)

There is a fox cub trying to jump up and reach a bunch of grapes hanging from a tree.

• とる (Pick up) → ぶどう (Grapes)
• わたす (Give) → ぶどう (Grapes)

The fox cub is too nervous to take the grapes.

• はなす (Talk) → ひかり (Hikari)
• おく (Put) → ぶどう (Grapes)
• いどう (Move) → ひがし (East)

Hikari says they should put the grapes on the ground and leave them for the fox cub. They step away.

• いどう (Move) → にし (West)

When they return, the fox cub and grapes have gone, but Ringo has picked up the fox cub's trail.

They arrive in the fox cub's home, where the mother fox is found.

The mother fox has handed over some ear plugs and looked at you with intent.

The ear plugs give you the ability to understand the animals.

The mother fox heard from Jano̅, the forest guardian, that Shiraishi Spring is guarded by the Gonta Tree in Shinohara. Jano̅ lives deep in this forest and can explain more.

• はなす (Talk) → こぎつね (Fox Cub)

The fox cub doesn't know anything about Shiraishi Spring, but that Chuntaro̅'s father might known something. Chuntaro̅ is a little sparrow.

Donbe, Hikari and Ringo arrive at a strange looking tree.

• はなす (Talk) → き (Tree)

The tree speaks. He warns them that if they try to find Jano̅, they won't be able to return home. Standing in their way is a hungry snake. To help them pass the snake, the tree drops… a hamburger!

In the creepy part of the forest, the heroes see something moving in the grass. When they look closer, a huge snake appears.

The unhelpful snake refuses to help you find Shiraishi Spring for free.

• わたす (Give) → はんばあがあ (Hamburger)

The snake gobbles up the hamburger, then admits he doesn't know where Shiraishi Spring is.

• つかう (Use) → かたな (Katana)

Donbe pulls out the katana. The snake panics and says Jano̅ knows where the spring can be found. He lives on top of a tall rock deep in the forest. The snake flees back into the forest.

• はなす (Talk) → りんご (Ringo)

While exploring deep in the forest, Ringo is hit on the head by something small and hard. It's a grape seed.

• みる (Look) → き (Tree)
• はなす (Talk) → ひかり (Hikari)

They hear a voice from the trees saying "I've been waiting for a long time." Hikari asks Donbe to check it out.

• いどう (Move) → きにのぼる (Climb Tree)
• みる (Look) → くさ (Grass)

Donbe climbs the tree to get a better view, but whatever it was has moved. He spots something moving in the grass.

• ひとかえる (Change Character)
• みる (Look) → くさ (Grass)

Hikari checks the grass and a monkey leaps out. He introduces himself as Matsunosuke, and he was instructed to meet you here. He got bored waiting, so he pelted Ringo with grape seeds to amuse himself. Matsunosuke joins the party.

Ringo is unable to smell the way due to a strong, sweet odour. Matsunosuke knows the way and takes the lead.

They arrive at a tall rock. Could this be what the Snake was referring to?

• はなす (Talk) → まつのすけ (Matsunosuke)

Matsunosuke is unable to climb the wall.

• とる (Pick up) → つる (Vine)
• つかう (Use) → つる (Vine)

Donbe retrieves a vine and swing it up to a high part of the rock.

• はなす (Talk) → まつのすけ (Matsunosuke)

Matsunosuke climbs the vine. A few moments later, he appears drunk from fermenting grapes. It seems Jano̅ has been making sake wine. That explains the strong smell. A voice booms out and an opening appears in the rock.

The group heads inside to find a giant sparrow dressed in a wealthy lord's clothes. It's Jano̅.

Jano̅ is furious that you took his sake fruit without permission. He calls for his son, Chuntaro, to deal with you. But when Chuntaro doesn't appear, Jano̅ becomes worried.

• みる (Look) → き (Tree)
• つかう (Use) → かたな (Katana)
• いどう (Move) → にし (West)

The group heads into the forest and cuts down a tree blocking the path. In the grass, they find a little sparrow with a… creepy face. It's the little sparrow Chuntaro!

• はなす (Talk) → こすずめ (Little Sparrow)

Chuntaro̅ is a little brat. He's not willing to come with Donbe.

• ひとかえる (Change Character)

Hikari offers to carry him instead. With a dirty laugh, Chuntaro̅ hops into her sleeve.

They return to Jano̅ and Hikari hand over Chuntaro̅. Jano̅ is grateful.

Donbe asks Jano̅ about Shiraishi Spring. As you know Otsuyu-san the fox, he agrees to help.

Donbe tells Chuntaro̅ that they are friends with the fox cub. As you know Maru, Chuntaro̅ encourages his father to help.

• はなす (Talk) → じゃのう (Jano)

When Jano̅ spots Hikari's necklace, he realises she is really Otohime. He was instructed to guard the way to the Gonta Tree until the princess returned, so brewed strong-smelling sake to keep the Oni away. He hands over vines and torches to help them on their way.
