Shin Onigashima Guide Chapter 8

As the heroes travel through Shiraishi Spring, Donbe has visions of his past life.

Otohime gave you the jewelled box and told you never to open it. You returned to your village but everything had changed and your mother was gone. Even though you only spent a few days in the Dragon Palace, hundreds of years had passed. In your grief, you opened the jewelled box. White smoke billowed out and the Avatar of Darkness rose into the sky. Something grabbed you by the arm and led you and Otohime to a huge saucer…

The heroes arrive on the other side of the spring. Onigashima sits across the sea.

While they try to figure out how they will cross the water, Donbe remembers that Ohana can simply fly them there.

• いどう (Move) → きた (North)

Ohana becomes giant and they all ride her over the water to Onigashima.

The heroes arrive on the island. In the distance, they can see some kind of building surrounded by Oni.

• はなす (Talk) → ひかり (Hikari)
• はなす (Talk) → ひかり (Hikari)
• おはな (Ohana)

Donbe and Hikari come up with a plan. Donbe will distract the Oni away from the building so Hikari can get close to it. He chooses Ohana to come with him.

• みる (Look) → くびかざり (Necklace)
• みる (Look) → くびかざり (Necklace)
• わたす (Give) → くびかざり (Necklace)

Hikari's necklace has been filled with heavenly water from the Shiraishi Spring. She takes one of the beads and gives it to Donbe to hold.

• いどう (Move) → きた (North)

Donbe heads towards the building and then runs, luring all the Oni away. They corner Donbe and Ohana on the edge of a steep cliff.

The plan worked. Hikari, Ringo and Matsunosuke head north towards the strange building. As they get closer, they realise it isn't a building at all, but an oddly shaped rock.

• みる (Look) → いわ (Rock)

You hear voices coming from inside the rock, pleading you to remove the rope and let them out. They are the spirits captured by the Oni that have yet to be eaten by the dragon.

• はなす (Talk) → まつのすけ (Matsunosuke)

Matsunosuke climbs up onto the roof and unties the rope holding the rock closed. Countless spirits come pouring out of the rock and swarming through the air. Two souls stop beside Hikari and greet her. It's the Old Man and Old Woman! They tell Hikari the jewelled box is inside the rock. They beg her to be careful, then fly off.

When Hikari uses the heavenly water, an opening appears in the rock.

• いどう (Move) → いわのなか (Inside Rock)
• はなす (Talk)

It's pitch black inside the rock, so Hikari follows Ringo's nose. Ringo sniffs out the jewelled box. They safely return back outside.

• ひとかえる (Change Character)

Donbe is still cornered at the top of the cliff by Oni.

• はなす (Talk) → おはな (Ohana)
• いどう (Move) → にげる (Escape)

Ohana transforms into a giant bird and Donbe escapes on her back. Together they take to the skies.

After soaring through the skies, Donbe and Ohana encounter the giant dragon, the Avatar of Darkness.

• いどう (Move) → ちかづく (Approach)

Ohana and Donbe fly attack the monstrous dragon. Ohana is injured and Donbe is swallowed whole.

• When Donbe is shown with a halo and you are asked おしてみる? (push?) do not push any buttons

Donbe didn't fall for the dragon's illusion and wakes up inside the dragon's body. It's too dark to see anything.

• つかう (Use) → みやみず (Heavenly Water)

With the heavenly water given to him by Hikari, Donbe is able to light the way.

• いどう (Move) → おく (Inside)
• みる (Look)

The Dragon's Orb is connected to the dragon by strands made of human souls.

• つかう (Use) → かたな (Katana)

As Donbe approaches the Dragon's Orb to free it, he is attacked by evil spirits who sacrificed themselves to resurrect the dragon.

• たたかう (Fight)

Donbe takes out the evil spirits with his katana.

• つかう (Use) → かたな (Katana)
• とる (Pick up) → りゅうのたま (Dragon's Orb)

Donbe cuts the souls holding the Dragon's Orb and picks it up. The dragon's body disintegrates and Donbe falls from the sky.

Donbe calls out to Ohana, but she was injured by the dragon. Suddenly a strange voice calls out. It's the Tengu! He catches Donbe out of the air and carries him safely back down to Hikari on the ground.

They quickly put the Dragon's Orb inside the Jewelled Box. As the souls scatter, they watch as the dragon's skeleton falls from the sky.

The Avatar of Darkness is defeated.
